It's not all sad news and worries for the Galician fishing sector. We  have just received great news today!

Bruxelas acaba de anunciar que retirar a proposta para prohibir a arte de pesca do xeito e outras modalidades artesanais. No caso da arte do xeito, afectaba a unhas 427 embarcacións na costa galega, especialmente da zoa de Rianxo e Morrazo.

Brussels has just announced that it will withdraw a proposal to ban the fishing practice called "Xeito" and other artesanal fishing methods. In the case of the "Xeito" it affects up to 427 vessels all along the Galician coast, especially in the areas of Rianxo and O Morrazo.

O enorme traballo da nosa querida e incansable Ana Miranda, e a solidariedade de colegas europeos como o eurodeputado escocés do SNP, Ian Hudghton,  foron imprescindibles para lograr este fantastico trunfo.

The huge work of oor dear and tireless MEP (BNG) Ana Miranda Paz, and solidarity from Scottish European colleagues like Ian Hudgtson (MEP-SNP), were absolutely essencial to get this fantastic victory.
