Last year we celebrated our first Burns Night at home and we had lots of fun, so we thought why not to continue with this amazing tradition and make stronger links between our culture?
As usual, everyone participated helping with something and Laura put her lovely cooking touch to this with a traditional Scottish cake
This year we didn´t have the same technical problems of last year and the haggis was spectacular; and Douglas gave the "address to the Haggis" amazingly well (what else could I say about my beloved husband?)
Este ano non tivemos problemas técnicos do pasado ano e a cerimonia do haggis estivo espectacular: e Douglas recitou o "Address to the Haggis" impresionantemente ben (qué podo dicir do meu amado home?)
But we did have a wee technical problem though with the toasts to the lassies and laddies ... but we were able to resolve it without much trouble... lol... Manolo made a great toast to the lassies and it was myself answering with the reply to the laddies.
Poetry is essential on Burns Night and for this occassion we have a fantastic present from our cousins Trini
and Carlos so we could read the poems of the Bard in Galego and Scots
(more or less).
A
Every one of us read a poem or sang a song in Galego or Scots. I and have to say that the boys are improving their way to sing "A Man for a' that"... next year they will do it even much much better.
All the food was very yummy and our friends liked the Rabbie Burns napkens very much.
We all had a great time so, we decided to repeat it again next year but improving the party with more music, better pronountiation of Scots language (we did our best...) , a Bagpiper and a good place to have a Ceilidh, so we'll see you next year! Slainte!
